Review of India Trip: 2009

posted on 3 March 2009 in General

Ron Christ and I left Raleigh-Durham Airport on Monday, February 9th. We arrived in Chennia, India on Wednesday, February 11th, around 1:00 AM!

We traveled through Karale, a small Indian town, on our way to Vijayawada. There we visited Jane, Jay Paul, and Mrs. Sunderho. I preached that Friday afternoon to a small group of 40 people in a thatched-roof, one-room building called Almighty Baptist Church - what a name! The Lord moved and two people trusted Christ as their Saviour!

We left Karale around 5:30 PM that Friday, and arrived in Vijayawada, a much larger city, at 10:00 PM. I preached in a village church on Saturday night. There were about 200 Hindus in attendance, all invited by one converted Hindu! I preached with an interpreter to a group of people that were completely ignorant to Biblical truth, especially the truth of Jesus Christ our Saviour. I began at Genesis 1 with creation and preached through the resurrection of Christ. The Lord wonderfully saved 39 of those dear Hindu people! The following Sunday, we had the opportunity of preaching in a Baptist church in the city and had 6 people saved.

Monday, we began our only Crusade of this trip. These Crusades have become more difficult to pull off with the political and spiritual unrest in the country of India. I preached Monday night through Wednesday night with approximately 2000 nationals in attendance. After it was all said and done, we had the privilege of seeing 596 total people saved! Praise the Lord! Our national pastors will be following up on each individual. Those that following the Lord in baptism will be taking an enormous step in the culture of Indian people. Please pray for each of these new converts as they begin their new life in Christ.

From Vijayawada, we traveled to Hyderabad. There we met with groups of our national missionaries. It was a joy to teach them and encourage them in the ministry. After teaching those dear pastors, we returned to Chennia on Monday, February 23rd, late into the night. We rested for a couple of days and left for home at 1:30 AM on Thursday, February 26th. Gaining a day on our return trip, we arrived at 5:30 PM on the 26th here in the good old USA!

We praise the Lord for His goodness, guidance, and safety He provided. It is a tremendous honor to represent Jesus Christ to such a needy country.

Thank you for making this trip possible with your prayers and financial support. We are so grateful!
